The Twitter client market seems to be driven entirely by TechCrunch

I know that sounds extreme.  But try searching for “Twitter client mac”.  You’ll find that a TechCrunch review is the first result.  Meanwhile, paging through the results, the first pages returned for many clients are their TechCrunch reviews, NOT the home page of the product itself.

It is kind of crazy that, in the age of Twitter, major centralized news sources like TechCrunch are starting to replace search engines themselves as the arbiter of popularity.  If TechCrunch doesn’t like you, or ignores you, then your business is sunk.

Personally, regardless of what TechCrunch may say, I’m sticking with my favorite Mac Twitter client, Twit Menulet.
